Vi är så imponerade av det arbete som utförs på vår vänskola i Mombasa! Det kostar pengar att driva en skola och i Kenya får inte en skola som LWPS pengar från kommunen, som vi får i Sverige. Här kommer en hel del av pengarna som det kostar att driva skolan från Hoppets stjärna i Sverige. Till exempel finns det många familjer i Sverige som har fadderbarn på den här skolan. För att kunna ge barnen en ännu bättre utbildning och bra mat har de en del projekt i Kenya också som de tjänar pengar på till skolan.

 

We are so impressed of the work that is done at the school here. It is costly to have a school and in Kenya private schools don't get supports from the local goverment as we do in Sweden. A lot of the money to have this school operating comes from Star of hope in Sweden. For example there are a lot of families in Sweden that have godchildren in this school. That means that the families send some money to Star of hope monthly so the child can go to school and have a schooluniform and food in school. To be able to give the pupils even a better education and nutritional food in school Star of hope Kenya also have some projects operating.

De föder upp kycklingar, kalkoner och fisk. Det tar 6 veckor för en liten nykläckt kyckling att växa så att den är färdig att slaktas. Då säljer de de flesta kycklingarna och en del slaktar de för att eleverna i skolan ska få kyckling att äta. Annars är den mat de oftast äter ris, ugali (majsgröt) och bönor. De säljer även kalkoner och fisk. En del hönor sparas så att de får ägg till skolan.

They are breeding chicken, turkeys and fishes. It takes 6 weeks for a little newhatched chicken to grow as much so they are ready to be slaugthered. Then they sell most of the chicken and some they slaugther to give the pupils in school as lunch. Otherwise the lunch mostly consists rice, ugali and beans. They also sell turkeys and fish. Some hens they save so they get eggs for the school.

De odlar också grönsaker, så att eleverna kan få vitaminrik mat.

They also grow vegetables, so the pupils can get nutritional food.

Den senaste idén för att tjäna pengar är att sälja vattenflaskor. Den man som startade Hoppets stjärna hette Erik-Gunnar Eriksson. Därför har de kallat vattnet för GUNNAR WATER. På flaskan står också bibelordet Johannes 7:38 ”Whoever belives in me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from whitin him”. De har köpt vattenreningsmaskin, vattenkvalitetsmätare  och plastflaskor. Vattnet renas och tappas upp på flaskor. Sedan försluts de med ett plasthölje runt korken och en etikett klistras på varje flaska.

The newest of the ideas to earn money for the school is to sell bottles of water. The name of the man that started Star of hope was Erik-Gunnar Eriksson. Therefore they have called the water GUNNAR WATER. At the bottle there is also a word from the bible to read from John 7:38 ”Whoever belives in me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from whitin him”. They have bought a machine that clean water, a machine for meassurement of the water quality and bottles. The water are cleaned and put in bottles. Then the bottles are sealed and a label is put on every bottle.

Skolan säljer också kurser i datautbildning till vuxna. Samuel är datalärare.

The school also sell cources of computor education for adults. Samuel is the computor teacher.

Vi vet att Gilbert har ännu fler idéer för att tjäna pengar till skolan. Han är verkligen en idéspruta, som också lyckas göra så att hans idéer blir verkliga och välsignade!

We know that Gilbert has even more ideas to earn money to the school. He is a true innovator as also succeed to get the ideas become real and blessed!
